Insult to Intelligence?
By Jack Nester, Jr.

In Matthew 24:4 Jesus says, "Take heed that no man deceive you". While He was talking about the signs and events surrounding His return … He does not intend for us to be deceived in any other area either. We are warned not to fail into deception by vain philosophies and instructed to hold fast to the teachings of Jesus Christ!

Most deception occurs first in the mind and then in action, whether it was Eve with the fruit or people today with politics and lifestyle based on the false assumption of "individual rights regardless".

When things sound good and people hear what they want to hear, it is easy to be deceived … and the worse form of deception is self-deception … which is exactly what many Americans have done and why we are in dire straits as a nation. When anyone is told what they want to hear instead of truth … it is dishonesty and deception. Abraham Lincoln said, "Ours is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people" (at least it was). Further, Genesis 1:26 clearly places the responsibility of carrying out His plan squarely on our shoulders … but many seem anxious and rush head-long to give up personal and state rights to be ruled and dominated by the government when neither the scripture nor our constitution give such guidance or direction.

Prior to Obama's inauguration he stated that he was ready to rule. That sounds more like a king or dictator than a leader who governs by the constitution … which is what happens when people are deceived. When I heard the absurd, anti-Christian statements that embrace homosexuality as an alternative life-style, abortion as a viable alternative to childbirth, the support of Islamic influence and culture and the endeavors to suppress and/or remove Christianity and it's influence … I thought, "that is an insult to people's intelligence that they would believe such blatant selfishness and lies". But when I see the numbers supporting such a worldly, humanistic philosophy … I guess that the leadership did not insult their intelligence but gauged it correctly which is a shame.

God still needs to be in the center of our lives and our nation even if a vocal minority disagree … and Christian believers, true American and leaders in Supreme court and congress should not be deceived but speak up for what is Biblical and right (read Colossians 2:8). That's something to think about
