Giving Yourself to God
By Jack Nester, Jr.
Our journey through life is a one-way trip so we need to make
the most of it, make our life count for something, and leave the
world a better place because we passed through. To find the meaning
of life, what you are going to life for, and fulfilling your purpose
and potential, the central issue is giving yourself to God!
It is to know that in Him you live, move and have your being
every breath. It is to choose to die to self and live and obey
Him. It is to yield control of your life to Him and trust Him
in everything. It is to desire to be more like Him, living in
love, victory and supernatural empowering. It is living each day
to the fullest in Him and bringing His Kingdom in supernatural
power - to help set people free - everywhere we go and in everything
we do.
You may declare Him as your Savior but is He truly your Lord
in control of your personal life and all of your decisions? This
requires an attitude of heart that is reflected in the daily action
of embracing and adhering to His teachings and being a vessel
through whom His supernatural love and power will flow. Can Jesus
trust you with His Word, Mission and power? He can and will if
you give all of yourself to Him.
To "give" is to "turn loose of" to relinquish
control. It goes far past intellectual and doctrinal understanding
and the supernatural transforms the physical in a practical manner.
Many do not want to be a saint but neither do they want to be
a sinner, so they give only part of their lives which will not
work.
Giving yourself means:
- Yielding control over our lives - salvation
- Yielding control over our spirit - Baptism with the Holy Spirit
- Yielding control of our goals - Baptism with Fire
Some steps to giving yourself to God are:
- Know that you give willingly and out of what you have not
grudgingly out of excess. (Mark 12:38-44)
- Know it means accepting His Word, as truth to be lived. (II
Timothy 3:16)
- Know it requires action and obedience daily (I Kings 17:1-16)
- Know it means experiencing the cross, suffering and service
In these times Jesus needs to truly be your Lord. Is He?
