Change is Often Blind and Selfish
By Jack Nester, Jr.
Proverbs 24:21 is clear, "My son, fear the Lord and King:
meddle not with them given to change for their calamity will rise
suddenly; and who knows the ruin of them both?"
Change is not bad if it glorifies God and helps people … but
often people change because they want something else. Change for
the sake of change most often is both blind and selfish. This
is what you are seeing in our nation today.
It is true that we need changes that lead to improvement in our
government (which can ultimately only come from following scripture
as our nation did in the past). For our nation we need Godly changes
with decisions by people of integrity who honor and obey God and
His son Jesus. (Isaiah 60:12)
There is a perverted idea that it is the duty of the government
to take care of you and provide for your needs. Then there are
those in government that believe this themselves so they attempt
to increase the welfare state, as is being done now in the stimulus
bill which is alleged to help. In the 1076 pages it contains things
most people do not want such as nationalized health care (where
politicians rather than doctors determine your health care), redistribution
which amounts to taking from those who have and giving to those
who have not (without regard to whether they worked or not), increase
and encouraged welfare system, weakening our national defense
and many other areas or which only about 10% would stimulate economy.
The government is to provide for the common good, protect the
people and provide for national defense … not take you to raise
or be a dictator. It now guarantees life (except for abortion),
liberty (except for liberal control), and pursuit of happiness
(not necessarily the attaining of it.
Recovery will come to the economy according to Luke 17:26-30
whether Obama or anyone else is in office. But spending more than
you have certainly can't help which even my grandchildren know.
People wanted change, at almost any cost, and God granted a leader
after the people's heart, without regard to his legitimate eligibility
… for the purpose of judgment which is occurring. Be cautious
about "blind change" it is dangerous and destructive.
That's something to think about, Pray!
